Assessment of health status and safety measures among workers in garment industry, Egypt

Background: Garment workers face several ergonomic stressors due to poor physical work environment. Objectives: The aim of this study was assess the health status and applied safety measures in garment industry. Subjects Methods: This comparative cross-sectional conducted at Miser Spinning Weaving Company (MSWC) El Mahala Kobra City, Gharbyia Governorate, Egypt. included 350 female an equal number administrative as group. An interview questionnaire filled collect required data. latest edition Occupational Safety Health Inspection Checklist (2016) used by researcher check available workplace Results: mean age exposed 41.8+6.65 years with a duration 20.80±10.368. More than half (58.6%) were sewing machine operators. Most (83.5%) suffered from musculoskeletal disorders compared 60.9% non-exposed workers, while 72.9% occular 54.9% non workers. Environmental measurements revealed that noise within permissible levels 70.9±10.4 76.3±8.9 dB factory 1 2 respectively.
